Gem and Jam Festival 2024 ACCESSIBILITY
The Gem and Jam Festival aims to foster an environment that celebrates diversity and inclusion. We strive to keep accessibility a top priority and to ensure all of our guests have full access to the festival and its amenities.
Below is our Accessibility Policy and Information. If additional accommodation is needed or if you have feedback and suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact us via email ADA@GemandJamfestival.com
ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES AND ONSITE ADVOCATES:
If at any time during the festival, disability assistance is needed, visit the info booth, box office or FIRST AID and request assistance from a Disability Advocate.
ADA CAMPING
ADA Campsites are available for those with accessibility needs. Sites include close access to the festival entrance and exits, nearby accessible bathrooms and showers. These sites are available on a first come first served basis. Pre-registration and purchase are required. It is best to plan early, register and purchase your site while options are still available.
Accessible campsites will require a government issued, current Disabled placard, hangar or license plate. The person to whom the placard, hangar or license plate is issued must be in the vehicle with a government issued ID. Please note, not all sites are full hookups. Some campsites are dry-camp without water or electricity.
To Register for ADA Camping, please email ADA@GemandJamfestival.com
WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBILITY
The Gem and Jam Festival takes place on a large, spacious and primarily grassy and asphalt terrain, with ample space for all the attendees. We understand the importance of mobility for guests with disabilities and encourage you to bring your own personal forms of transportation, such as wheelchairs and scooters. Canes, walkers and other mobility support devices are also welcome. If you wish to request assistance prior to the festival, please contact us no later than 3 days prior, so that our advocacy team can come up with a plan to assist you. Request assistance by emailing ADA@GemandJamfestival.com
Note: Gem and Jam Festival will not be providing wheelchair or scooter rental.
ADA PARKING
There is ADA Parking available for single day attendees. Vehicles must display the government issued Disabled placard, hangar or license plate.
ADA LOADING AND UNLOADING:
Guests with a disability, who are being dropped off and the vehicle will not be remaining on site, please enter through the general lot. Gate attendants will assist you further.
Please note: Parking gates will close and lock when the box office closes at 11:00 p.m., each night. Unless prior arrangements have been made, Guest pickup must be made prior to 11:00 p.m., while a Disability Advocate is still on site to assist you. To request this accommodation, email ADA@GemandJamfestival.com 24 hours prior to when the assistance is needed.
ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS AND SHOWERS
There are accessible permanent and portable bathrooms and showers. Individuals needing the assistance of their attendant for showering needs can be accommodated with different shower times, by emailing ADA@GemandJamfestival.com
Note: Requests for showering accommodation are due 3 days prior.
ACCESSIBLE CONCESSIONS AND VENDING:
If you need to be accommodated, please let the vendor know how to best serve you, within reason.
ACCESSIBLE VIEWING AREAS:
The main stages have a viewing area located at the soundboard with space for guests with mobility issues and their attendant.
SERVICE ANIMALS:
Service animals that align with the ADA’s service animal classification are permitted throughout the venue as long as the animal has been specifically trained to do work or to perform tasks for the disabled individual. Service animals are to remain under the constant control of the disabled individual and at the individual’s side, be it by voice or physical restraint. Please use the service animal relief areas and clean up after your animal.
Gem and Jam Festival love our pets too; however, pets are not allowed into the festival nor on county property. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA guidelines and will not be allowed access into the festival.
Note: At no time is your animal to be left unattended in a vehicle. Animals left in vehicles will be reported to the authorities which may result in civil fine, seizure of your animal and being ejected from the event without refund.
EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION REQUESTS
We recognize the importance of effective communication for individuals who are deaf or hearing impaired. We can provide written materials as well as ASL interpreters upon request. Request for this accommodation can be made by emailing ADA@GemandJamfestival.com
