House Cat Yoga
with Shelby Athouguia & Erin Tunze
About Shelby: The mind and body are truly the most powerful tools we have, and the practice of Yoga helps to sharpen and strengthen our use of these natural gifts. My journey with the practice began as a young Tucson teenager at 15 and has never failed to keep giving the abundant gifts my body and mind have to offer – not only for myself but for the community that surrounds me. Once I received my RTY 200 certification from Yoga Oasis under instruction from Darren Rhodes, Sam Rice, and Brigette Finley, I knew it was my duty to help provide the space for others to heal and grow in the same ways my journey has been providing for myself. Now instructing at 4th Avenue Yoga in Tucson, my classes are all about fun, personal exploration and of course very special music playlists to help guide your practice and have you walking out of the studio feeling refreshed and ready to make the best of your day. I am more than honored to teach this practice, and I look forward to sharing the space with each of you! – Shelby
Slinky Manipulation 101
About the Workshop: Slinky manipulation has been described as mesmerizing, magical, and oddly satisfying. It is the art of using one’s hands to send waves of tension through a (usually plastic) slinky, allowing one to trace patterns through the air that often appear to defy the laws of physics. It originated in China in the early 2010s and has been popularized in several viral videos. In this workshop, participants will learn to turn their slinky into an energy beam that bounces from hand to hand, use their hands to create a slinky “escalator”, learn to make their slinky bounce off a target and back into their hand, and leave armed with everything they need to practice to become a slinky master! Blacklight-reactive rainbow slinkies will be provided for all participants and will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the workshop.
About Slinky Josh: Slinky Josh was sent to Earth to bring joy and silliness back to its people using the power of his magical rainbow slinky! He has been featured on The Late Late Show With James Corden, ABC’s The Gong Show, MTV’s Amazingness, and Germany’s Got Talent and has taught slinky manipulation to hundreds of people of all ages at events around the country since 2017. He has been practicing slinky manipulation since 2015.
